Der Fortsetzungsband ‚ex terrae² – Die Heimkehr‘ von Athea Graye setzt direkt an Band 1 ‚ex terrae – Die Prüfung‘ an und findet auf Orytha statt, dem vermeintlich sicheren Zufluchtsort der Crew um Dr. Elara Carter.

Doch, wie so oft im Leben … wenn etwas zu perfekt erscheint, ist meistens der Wurm … bzw. die KI drin.

Auch wenn ich womöglich etwas befangen bin, da ich mich am Lektorat beteiligen durfte, ist ‚ex terrae – Die Heimkehr‘ eine tolle und spannend weiterentwickelte Fortsetzung mit gut ausgewählten und fein ausgestalteten neuen Charakteren. Aber natürlich wird auch die Geschichte bereits aus Band 1 bekannten Figuren weitererzählt. Wie geht es mit Elara, Samara und Boreas weiter? Was wurde aus Upsi?

Findet die gebeutelte Crew endlich ihren Frieden? Können Sie Lynnie, der ubiquitären KI auf Orytha vertrauen? Wer ist Freund und wer nicht?

Es geht wie auch schon im ersten Band um den Blick hinter die Kulissen … sowohl die, die man sieht, als auch die, die sich hinter der Stirn der Charaktere verbergen.

Gerade in einer Zeit, in der es technologiebasierte Heilsversprechen im Übermaß gibt und Künstliche Intelligenz bereits ein integraler Bestandteil unserer eigenen, realen Welt geworden ist, zeigt Athea Graye, dass Empathie und kritisches Nachfragen immer wichtiger sind, als oberflächliche Perfektion.

Auch bei einer KI gilt: Gut gemeint, ist nicht immer gut gemacht. Manchmal sogar sehr, sehr, sehr schlecht gemacht!
